Book review of the week!

📚 The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Reviewed by: Books for Big Brains
Age Rating: 11+ (due to intense themes and violence)
Category: Dystopian Fiction, Action, Survival

⭐ Summary:

Set in the brutal world of Panem, The Hunger Games follows Katniss Everdeen—a fierce, resourceful teen girl who volunteers to take her sister’s place in a televised fight to the death. With only a bow, her wits, and an extremely confusing crush on Peeta (ugh, Peeta), Katniss battles other tributes, the Capitol’s twisted rules, and her own heart.

💭 Themes:

  • Survival & Rebellion

  • Social injustice & inequality

  • Loyalty, sacrifice, and (very weird) romance

🤓 Big Brain Thoughts:

  • What would you do if you lived in District 12?

  • Is Katniss a hero or just trying to survive?

  • Should reality TV have limits? (ahem, yes.)

📈 Complexity:

The writing is fast-paced but layered with strong emotions, ethical dilemmas, and political undertones. Perfect for thoughtful readers who like action and moral questions.

🔥 Books for Big Brains Rating: 9/10

For readers who love deep stories, big feelings, and the occasional fireball.
